5 Healthy Snacks for Toddlers + Ibotta Offer!

I am embarrassed to say that healthy eating isn’t something that is at the top of our priority list these days. With the new school year started for me, the kids starting their respective schools, and Chris’ busy days on patrol, it’s almost impossible to find the energy to eat properly. We are definitely trying, but we fall short over and over again. We have got to try to do better, especially with our children. Today, I took a trip to our local Publix Supermarket and loaded up on some healthy snacks for the kiddos.

Saving Money on Diapers + Coupon Alert!

I learned early on with both of my children, if we were going to survive the diapering years, we were going to need to make some changes. We needed to not only be cutting costs around the house, we needed to be saving money on diapers. We switched to Luvs diapers in the winter of 2011. I remember the day, actually. It was Christmastime and I was pretty bent out of shape about having to buy diapers…again. I thought premium diapers were the only way to go with our son, Aidan. He was born 2 months premature and we tiptoed around his needs. I even became a stay at home mom. There was no way we were sending our 4lb. 9oz. son to daycare. Anyway,  that day I stood in the baby section of Target and did some math.  I realized pretty quickly that I could be saving money on diapers.

4 Potty Training Essentials + Giveaway!

Finally, there is light at the end of the tunnel. The tunnel I am referring to is the “spending $60 per month on diapers” tunnel. It seems as though Avery is showing off all of the signs that she is just about ready to rock and roll with potty training. She can finally take off her own pants, she tells me when she has gone potty in her diaper, and she is interested in sitting on the potty. It is helpful that she gets to watch my older son, using him as an example. It also helps that I have been there, done that. Speaking from experience, I know it is about that time to pull out the stops with my potty training essentials that I have learned over the years.

Amusement Park Trip Must-Have List

As a Central Florida veteran, I have been going to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay for as long as I can remember.  I used to take an amusement park trip ever other week. Now that I live in Southwest Florida, I don’t go as often as I like. Still, we have yearly family passes and try to go at least once a month. So far, my kids are huge fans of amusement parks. It is truly the one public place where they both behave! Who would have thought? We were able to go to Busch Gardens two weekends ago as a last hurrah before school starts. Aidan and Chris got to go on the brand new Cobra’s Curse coaster while Avery and I waited. Avery’s face describes how I felt about not being able to try out the new coaster myself!

Making Family Memories at Old McMicky’s Farm in Odessa, Florida

Every once in a while an opportunity pops up; one that you can’t resist. My mother has been dying to take Aidan to this little farm called Old McMicky’s Farm  in Odessa, Florida. In case you don’t know where Odessa, Florida is, that is ok; I had ZERO clue that it even existed! Odessa is a little town located just north of Tampa, Florida. It’s a drive through town, as far as I have ever been concerned. That was until we visited Old McMicky’s Farm.

Playing in the Rain is Good for Your Soul

This summer has been intense. Between a teacher conference at the beginning of the summer, starting my own business, and writing part time for Makobi Scribe, I haven’t really had a chance to breathe. There have been many moments where I have felt like a bad mom. The kids are both pulling on my leg, but I have to get this one last post written. Continue reading

6 Father-Son Bonding Ideas

There are few things that I love more than watching my husband, Chris, interact with our son. Aidan was born two months early. Their bond has extended from the NICU into the world of a baby, a toddler, and now an almost 5 year old. It has been amazing watching their bond grow over the years. I am sure this list of father-son bonding ideas will evolve as Aidan gets older, but for now, these are perfect for the two of them! Personally, I love the final bonding idea! Continue reading
